Inclusion: Growing Together Through Play

In kindergarten, inclusion is not just an educational goal, but a value that permeates every moment of the day. We believe that every child is unique and that their diversity – cultural, linguistic or related to specific needs – is a precious resource for the entire school community. How can we best promote this approach? Through play!

Play as a Bridge to Inclusion

Play is the language that all children understand. It overcomes linguistic, cultural and cognitive barriers, creating a common ground where everyone can express themselves freely. For this reason, we have designed inclusive play activities that allow each child to participate according to their possibilities, promoting collaboration, empathy and a sense of belonging.

One of the most significant examples is the game "The Treasure Hunt of Emotions" , designed to help children recognize and share their emotions, while strengthening bonds within the group.

The Hunt for the Treasures of Emotions

Objective : To promote inclusion through sharing emotions and valorizing the uniqueness of each child.

Material :

  • Illustrated cards with different emotions (happiness, fear, surprise, etc.).

  • Bags or boxes containing small "treasures" (colored stones, leaves, children's cultural symbols).

  • A large board with simple paths to follow together.

Development :

  1. Introduction : Children sit in a circle and share a story or an experience related to an emotion. The teacher guides the conversation, involving even those who speak less with open questions.

  2. Searching for treasures : Divided into small mixed groups, children work together to find the "treasures" hidden in the classroom or in the garden. Each time they find one, they draw an emotion card and tell a story about a time when they felt that way.

  3. Final Sharing : At the end of the game, each group shows their "booty" and reflects on what they have learned from the others, emphasizing the importance of listening and mutual discovery.

Game Results

This activity is not only fun, but has a profound impact on children's emotional and social development. Through storytelling and collaboration:

  • Children learn to recognize and express their own emotions and to respect those of others.

  • A climate of trust is created, in which everyone feels welcomed and part of the group.

  • Differences become inspiration for curiosity and mutual discovery, breaking down prejudices and stereotypes.

A Footprint That Remains

Inclusion is not a goal to reach, but a journey that is built day after day. Through play, we transform the classroom into a place of growth and sharing, where each child is the protagonist and builder of authentic relationships.
